In the article discussing President Obama’s call for a final vote on health care reform, I found the most compelling quote by the President to be, “for those of us who were sent here to lead…”
For me, that captures both the why and the genesis of the problem afflicting political leadership on every level from school districts, to county commissioners, to state elected officials, to our federal senators and representatives. Persons whom we elect to office are sent there with the shared trust to lead and to do so with courage and compassion.
It’s been written and proclaimed by this blogger many times before, yet, where, O, where are the leaders on every level who display courage, wisdom and heart? When will we, the electorate, demand leaders who lead with what’s best for the people not what’s best for their particular political party and who display courage for doing what is best for the common good not the special interests?
