Looking Glass

There seems to be an education theme for the week.  Today, in 1904, Helen Keller graduated from Radcliffe and became the first person who was blind and deaf to graduate from any school, anyplace, anywhere. One admires her tenacity and her “Yes, I can” fortitude. 

As the ol’ question goes, “Are you a glass half-full or a glass half-empty kind of person?”

Advocacy Lesson #11: Have and maintain a realistic optimism. 

Let’s be honest, this advocacy work is not for the wimpy.  It’s tough and one has to learn to journey through wins and losses and maintain the “why” of what drives the work.  Advocates need to be real and committed to the work especially when and through the times when losses far out number wins — it’s also why advocates make good Pirates fans….smile……
