Education is Power

I am claiming today, 28 October 2010, as “Life Goes On” Day.  It’s been a rough several weeks and though the grief is and will remain, I need to be about getting on with living and lighting and learning.

It is the last “l,” learning, that is the focus of today’s blog for on this day in 1636, Harvard University was founded — an amazing 16 years after the Pilgrims landed in Plymouth.  Today, we also celebrate the birthday of Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, who with his wife Melinda and their foundation has made improving the quality of public education a top priority.

I am a big proponent of the importance of education.  I absolutely can not stand the “dumbing down” of our elected officials and/or that being or pretending to be not as smart as a man is an attractive trait for women.  Please.

With all that said, keep on the ready, as CHC will begin a series of advocacy trainings, a new Academy, and other workshops.

In our learning, we will become and be more self-confident and self-reliant, and, by that, even more amazing advocates.
