During my morning meditation and reflection time a quote captured my attention and stirred me to say, “That’s it! This is a message for tonight’s vigil.”

The quote was from advocate and prophet, Daniel Berrigan who said, “Don’t just do something, stand there.”

Consumer Health Coalition and the Pennsylvania Health Access Network (PHAN) are holding a vigil to preserve adultBasic health insurance tonight, 8 December 2010, at 5:30 pm in front of the New Hope United Methodist Church, 114 West North Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212

We hold a vigil with candles to draw attention to the justice issue of continuing adultBasic and to make funding it a priority.  We stand with the thousands who will be without insurance come February 2011 if adultBasic is eliminated.  We stand with the hundreds of thousands who wait to be on this insurance.  We share light, give voice and offer a public witness.  JOIN US.

Sometimes one of the most powerful advocacy actions one can do is to be present in person and passion and persistence to a just cause.

We do that tonight.
