July 26, 2016 Comments Off on Letter to the Editor: Health care navigators are here to aid consumers
CHC’s Leslie Bachurski wrote a Letter to the Editor in the Post-Gazette to ensure that people know the value of Health Care Navigators in navigating the costs and options:
“The Affordable Care Act created navigators, unbiased educators who provide free assistance to consumers and clearly explain in understandable terms one’s choices. Consumers whom I assist often have a limited budget for medical spending and may not be savvy with health care terminology. Making sure doctors are covered and understanding prescription costs and how much an ER visit will likely cost are really important. The benefits of sitting down with a navigator are that all of these important details are explained.”

July 11, 2016 Comments Off on Letter to the Editor: Let’s see leadership on PA budget funding
Check out the following Letter to the Editor which ran in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette this weekend on the PA State Budget written by CHC intern Jessica Young:
It’s a rite of passage for every advocacy intern to write and have a Letter to the Editor published. Jessica’s letter is outstanding and kudos to her and the shout-out to members of the Health Committee for People with Disabilities — whom are also quite an amazing crew of advocates!
As for the PA State Budget, as we’ve said during our legislative visits, rallied under, and continue to share: Real People with Real Issues need Real Revenue.
Join in the advocacy!
