August Book Club: Housing
The recent meeting of the HCPD Book Club was a great discussion on the Pulitzer-Prize winning book, Evicted, by Matthew Desmond. We followed up that meeting with community discussion on Section 8 housing which was led by Summer Intern, Matthew Emerson. Above is a “Wordle” made from the feedback of those meetings.
Along with affordability, we need accessible housing. As this advocacy moves forward, both affordability and accessibility must be shared as both are needed.
HCPD Book Club for September
The current read for the HCPD Book Club is, The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson. After consecutive intense reads, we’re taking an exhale and reading some more lighter fare. This is a most entertaining book and will give folks a chance to re-call the life and times of their own childhoods!
