Recent advocacy projects continue to center around the Pennsylvania Fairness Act. This act focuses on ensuring equal opportunity for all gender identities, gender expressions and sexual orientations. We have phone banked with PA Competes and are continuing to work with Representative Frankel for the addition and protection of LGBT rights to the state’s constitution.
As part of this push for inclusion, we encourage everyone to attend the “Stores Coming Together” event. This event is hosted by Crisis Center North and will explore stories of the LGBTQA+ through words and art.
The keynote speaker of the event, Dr. Rachel Levine, is the Acting Pennsylvania Secretary of Health and is a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at Penn State College of Medicine. Dr. Levine will be discussing the violence affecting the LGBTQA+ community and the exhibit explores the experiences of oppression among individuals in the LGBTQA+ community. There will also be a photography exhibit titled, “Where Love Is Illegal,” by award-winning photographer Robin Hammond.
