Living Together is an Art: Photo Voice Project
Photo Voice is an advocacy technique in which persons use the medium of photography to share their experience and perspective; to highlight wrongs needed corrected; and to tell their story in another medium other than the written or spoken word.
Consumer Health Coalition has partnered with: Magee Women’s Hospital and the Clinic for Women with Disabilities; Pennsylvania Youth Leadership Network; and United Cerebal Palsy Pittsburgh to participate in a photo voice project entitled LIVING TOGETHER IS AN ART.
Twenty-four photographers of cross-disabilities and diversity of age, race, gender and geography have been provided cameras and are documenting with the photos these three topic areas:
- Community Accessibility
- Health Care Accessibility
- Social Capital
The Living Together is an Art photographs and stories will be debuted in a community forum in mid-October 2009. Please watch this website for details.
Photographs will also be exhibited in various locations and settings beginning in November 2009.
Consumer Health Coalition wishes to thank these generous funders who helped make this project possible:
- The Developmental Disabilities Council
- SPROUT Fund
- Three Rivers Community Foundation
